west moors parish plan

HomeSite Summary

Object of a Parish Plan

The object of a Parish Plan is to give everybody living in a parish the chance to express their opinion about how they would like to see their parish progress over the the next ten years or so.   It is intended to consider all aspects of life in West Moors and that all age groups shall be given the opportunity to make a contribution to the plan.   Parish Plans are the result of a Government initiative and some funding has been provided to help its progress at different stages and to maintain the Steering Group's independence.   They are not answerable to any political party, county, district or parish council.

History

The Steering Committee was formed from a group of volunteers who attended the public meeting held in the Memorial Hall on 11th June 2005. An agreed constitution is lodged with the parish clerk at the parish council office, as are copies of the minutes of each meeting, and are freely available for public scrutiny. In order to get a feel for local issues and concerns an Open Day was held at the hall on 15th October 2005. This event was attended by some 800 residents.

A questionnaire was delivered to all households in June 2006 and over 1,300 forms were returned.

Background

The Parish Plan has been published. A hard copy is held in the Parish Office.

Thank you to all the villagers who submitted the questionnaires.  The analysis from these forms can be found on the following document

Now that the Steering Group has published and distributed the Plan, its work is done. A Local Action Group will take over the task of monitoring the progress being made to achieve the actions outlined on pages 21 & 22 of the Plan. It is expected that meetings will be held bi monthly in the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm.

The scheduled meeting dates can be seen on www.eastdorsetcommunitypartnership.org.uk .  All meetings are open so if you would like to attend please feel free to come along. If you prefer to make a comment in writing then please contact the Secretary, or leave details at the Parish Office.

Remember it is the West Moors Plan, so all residents are entitled to have their say regarding any Actions being undertaken. We might not achieve all our aims, but if we do nothing we probably won't achieve any of them.
