PARTNERSHIPS FOR OLDER PEOPLE PROJECT

POPP is a scheme to help the over-50's enjoy independent, healthy and active lives.  POPP supports a wide range of activities, projects and services, all based on what residents have requested.

To achieve their goal POPP require the active involvement of older people in West Moors, working in partnership with Dorset County Council at District and Borough level, voluntary organisations such as Age Concern and Dorset Primary Care Trust. 

POPP have appointed a grid of a grid of 33, Leader's and 66, Wayfinders throughout Dorset.

The Leader, whose role it is to listen to the views of older residents, identify needs within the community, and then help fund and develop new services.  The Wayfinder who will work directly within the community, providing individuals with information and signposting to services. 

WHAT SORT OF THINGS CAN WAYFINDERS HELP WITH?

Your local Wayfinder has a huge list of contacts and information to help you find out about most things you can think of. If they don't immediately have the information to hand then they will go and research the answer for you.

Some of the things they can help you with are details of local lunch clubs and social events, learning opportunities and outings.  You may need to know about public transport.  How to get to the hospital or transport to visit your doctor.

Maybe you could do with some help around the house or in the garden, but don’t know who to trust? Your Wayfinder can help you find the right person.

If you have a form or letter which is worrying you or you wonder if you may be entitled to some extra money each week then your Wayfinder can put you in touch with someone else who can help you.
