Skatepark

HomeSite Summary

West Moors Skatepark was built in 2003 from monies raised by us youth  of West Moors, with a little bit of help from an adult committee.  We have a well good Skatepark, open all hours with six different obstacles, including a  pyramid, ramp and a  mini ramps.  Why not come along and check out the rides, they're really sweet!  It's also a  great place to meet up and just chill out.

The park now has a new mini ramp installed which is the 2nd phase of the project now completed. The ramp cost £17k and the money was raised by the Skatepark committee from fund raising and grants. The ramp will be well used and it is ideal for new starters to the sports.

The Skatepark committee have also raised £2k and have purchased  10 sets of skateboarding equipment which includes boards, helmets safety pads and shoes so that new beginners to the sport can start without having to outlay any money. The committee will be advertising this facility in the local schools and youth groups and the older skaters are happy to teach the new starters.

The next project for the Skatepark is a shelter......so watch this space!

We hold annual Skatefest’s and this year 2008, it is on the 10th August.  So look out for the details.

Did you know two Skateboarders from the village, who learnt to skate in West Moors, now travel to skateboard events across the country, doing exhibitions and promoting skateboard companies and manufactures.

Skateboarding could be an Olympic event for 2012!
