Sporting West Moors

There are a number of sports in which West Moors residents and those living in the surrounding area support.   These range from the junior football teams up to bowls.   In between there is the Skatepark used mainly by teenagers and well managed by the Skatepark Challenge committee it also includes a BMX facility.

Two senior football teams play at the Fryers Field: West Moors Club and West Moors Social Club.   The West Moors cricket team plays at the same venue during the summer season.

On the borders of the village is the Wayfarers Sports Club, a private club but open to village residents.  The club caters for Cricket, Hockey (male and female), Soccer and plenty of social activities i.e. barbeques, dances etc. . 

 

Also on the village edge is the Ferndown Forest Golf Club,

open to members and non-members for play and use of their clubhouse and driving range facilities.

 

The West Moors Memorial Bowling Club is sited behind the Memorial Hall on Station Road.   It provides all year round activity with lawn bowls in the summer season and short mat bowls for autumn and winter months.   It is a private club but again open to all residents for several categories of membership.   It has its own website which provides useful information in depth.  West Moors Bowling club

Many residents take advantage of the West Moors Plantation for sports training as well as dog walking and cycling the many excellent paths laid down and maintained by the Forestry Commission. 

Within 3 miles of the village is the Moors Valley Country Park with further golf facilities and adventure parks for children.
