West Moors has a number of youth activities, particularly for
children up to 15 years of age. One disadvantage is the lack of a
senior school in the village. After attending the West Moors Middle
School, pupils need to transfer to senior schools in Ferndown or Wimborne or
further afield. However, there are a number of leisure
facilities available in West Moors which are proving attractive to West Moors
younger citizens.
-
For the youngest there are two play areas
with swings, slides and climbing frames in the the Fryer's Field and also
adjacent to the Oakhurst First School, Shaftesbury Road. These
facilities can be used by children up to age 11. They are maintained
by the Parish Council to full safety standards. The Fryers field
facilities are open in daylight hours and can be accessed via a path opposite St
Mary's Church on Station Road. The Shaftesbury facility is open
after school hours until dusk. On weekends and Bank Holidays it is open
most daylight hours after 10.00AM.
